ZOOM! Whitening

Teeth whitening is one of many cosmetic dental services we provide here in our Del Rio, TX clinic. Patients come to us with discoloration or staining of their teeth, and can choose from a variety of whitening products. ZOOM! whitening is one of our more popular types of teeth whitening due to the fast results and that it is done in about an hour.

ZOOM! whitening works by first applying a whitening gel, then using a low intensity lamp to shine directly onto the teeth. The light helps activate the whitening gel, which then causes it to seep deep into the tooth enamel. It is a safe and effective process that only takes about an hour in our practice. Many patients get it done during their lunch break, and can go right back to work.

Patients often prefer ZOOM! whitening not just for the quick results, but because it doesn’t leave sensitivity or soreness of the gums — not to mention that it is long-lasting.

If you want to get your teeth whitened through our chair side procedure, schedule a ZOOM! whitening appointment today with our team here at Cadena Dentistry.

Rotary Endodontics

If you’ve had a root canal to save an infected tooth, it probably didn’t occur to you to ask what types of tools your dentist used. However, if your dentist used the old, manual file for removing the infection, the procedure may have been more nerve racking than if rotary endodontics technology was used. That’s why our team here at Cadena Dentistry uses these tools in our office in Del Rio, TX.

Providing a smoother, more comfortable experience during root canals, rotary endodontics technology gives your doctor the ability to remove the infected pulp in the inner root canal more quickly, more smoothly and with less chance of complications. These electric instruments prove superior to the traditional, stainless steel files. They are made of nickel titanium, which is much more flexible than stainless steel, so it can be inserted into the curved root canal without damaging the passageway.

In addition, the tools are much quieter, without the grinding noise that other tools produce, which can help with your nerves during the procedure. This is why both the doctor and patients prefer this technology. While the manual method works adequately at saving teeth during root canals, rotary endodontics tools are much less scary and are easier to use.

We prefer to use this technology at our office in Del Rio, TX because we always put our patients’ first and the tools are smoother, quicker and more consistent than the traditional method. Mini Dental Implants

While dental implants are a great solution for replacing missing teeth, at Cadena Dentistry, we use mini dental implants as an effective alternative in situations where regular implants cannot be used, such as in narrow spaces. Roughly half the size in diameter as conventional implants, mini implants are often used to replace smaller teeth in the mouth, as well as serve as a base for dentures.

Because mini implants are so small, often no incision is needed to place them in the gums. They can usually be inserted by Dr. Louis Cadena through the gum and into the bone directly, which eliminates much of the recovery time and allows the restoration to be placed immediately or shortly after. Like regular implants, mini implants are made of titanium. However, they are one solid piece, which give them roughly the same strength as a regular implant, which is made of an implant and a separate abutment that is added after installation.

When used for dentures, four to six mini implants are placed along the gum line, and an entire set of uppers or lowers can be attached directly to the gums, which is advantageous to the patient since, unlike adhesive, implants do not shift or slip. This makes dentures more comfortable while eating, speaking and smiling.

If you want to know if implants or mini implants are the right solution for your missing teeth, call 830-775-3322 to schedule an appointment. For more information our Del Rio, TX dental practice, visit www.cadenadentistry.com

Sedation Dentistry

The idea of going to the dentist for a procedure brings on feelings of fear or anxiety in some people, but there are options to ease the anxiety. Between 5% and 8% of Americans avoid going to the dentist due to dental phobia.  We offer an extremely practical solution to dental phobia through sedation. Our practice offers a safe environment of skilled staff members who are able to comfort you through various sedation methods.

Dr. Cadena sedates patients through oral Nitrous Oxide, intravenous sedation and oral conscious sedation. None of these methods will not “knock you out”, but you will be in a deep state of relaxation during your treatment.

The most common sedation method utilized throughout the dental industry is Nitrous Oxide (N2O). N2O works very rapidly, reaching the brain within 20 seconds. Dr. Cadena will place a small mask over your nose. He will then ask you to breathe normally; within a few short minutes patients will begin to feel the effects. N2O wears off quickly and there is no “hangover” effect. IV administration is becoming a popular tool for dentists as well. IV sedation is administered through the veins, this allows for quicker effects and less recovery time.

Some patients also have trouble with needles and gas, so Dr. Cadena will provide you with an oral sedative such as valium. This is utilized for patients with mild to moderate anxiety as it is not as powerful as other sedation methods.

Whitening and Bleaching

Whitening and Bleaching
If you are not happy with the staining or discoloration of your teeth, our dentist Dr. Louis Cadena has a variety of options for you. Instead of just providing our patients with one type of whitening and bleaching, we have several options available to our patients. This includes using the tray whitening system, a deep bleaching tray whitening product (KoR whitening), and ZOOM! chairside whitening.

The first whitening product offered in our Del Rio, TX dental practice is the tray whitening system. With this product, we use impressions of the patient’s teeth to create custom, reusable whitening trays. They are filled with whitening gel and placed over the teeth in the office, followed by home treatment over several days.

Another tray whitening product we have is a newer product called KoR whitening. KoR whitening also uses custom trays, except the result is permanent with most of our patients. Patients wear the trays and use the whitening gel only at night while they sleep for about two weeks. This permanently bleaches their teeth.

Finally, we provide in-office whitening through ZOOM!, which combines a strong whitening gel and a low intensity lamp. This whitening is all done chairside and is complete in about an hour.
Call Cadena Dentistry at 830-775-3322 to book your appointment for any of these whitening and bleaching options.
